This week colleagues and I will be training the whole staff body on how to create a Frog site. Our discussions about training started by considering how to get staff used to the technical features that staff could use to construct a successful site.
However, we very quickly realised that we weren’t putting enough emphasis on making staff reflect on the purpose of the site that they would be developing. Ultimately, we designed a planning flow chart (below) to ensure that staff knew exactly what they wanted to create to support learning and what support they would need to build their first site, before we let them near a computer. The outcome is, even if staff don’t have time to build the site, they will know what they want to build, how it should enhance learning and they can visit our school’s Learning Commons or a member of staff who has used Frog before to get support.
I suspect that this will be useful to other schools undertaking VLE training, even if your platform isn’t Frog.
